On the 19th January we will commence a new teaching series in The Hill. It is She cries out. The title comes from a passage in the book of Proverbs (Chapter 1 verses 20 to 21). I particularly like the way The Message conveys it:
Lady wisdom goes out in the street and shouts. At the town centre she makes her speech. In the middle of the traffic she takes her stand. At the busiest corner she yells out.

The passage goes on to say that people ignore the wisdom of God at their own peril and end up in a right mess. As one outspoken preacher said in response to the question as to why the culture does not teach the same stuff we do “Because they don’t have their Bibles and they don’t know what they are doing!” Strong wording maybe, but there is something in this comment that should not be ignored. Proverbs (Chapter 2 verse 1) continues: “Good friend, take to heart what I’m telling you; collect my counsels and guard them with your life.”
The purpose of this series is to collect the counsel of God and either store them up or apply them directly to our lives in 2014 and beyond. Hearts that are committed to finding wisdom will discover a new awe and respect for God, as well as a new understanding of the wisdom of God that was perfectly displayed in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
We will use this series to give opportunity for some new teachers in The Hill, therefore whilst it will be our main teaching series for the first part of the year, it will also be one that we can use again and again. The wisdom of God’s is never-ending and we all need lots of it.
I am looking forward to it already. Start asking God to give you more wisdom for living. We have already learnt from James that we can ask a generous God who will give wisdom to those who ask.
